White Lake: Remembering the Nation's Safest Beach is a historical documentary created by Robert Kinlaw and funded in part by the Bladen County Arts Council. It explores the history of White Lake, North Carolina, a small lake community, in southeastern North Carolina. White Lake is specifically known for its very clear water, a trait not present in any of the other Carolina Bay Lakes. The Lake was self-termed "The Nation's Safest Beach" as a result of its hazard-free waters and white sandy bottom. The first commercial operation opened in 1901, marking the beginning of a thriving tourism business. During the 1940s, 50s, and 60s, the Lake exploded with visitors and activities. Starting in the 70s, the infamous water ski club known as the White Lake Ski Heels was formed, producing many tournament and professional water skiers. In the 80s, wakeboarding became popular, and the Lake produced several outstanding riders who made waves around the east coast.

This production is meant to document the history of the town and preserve it. It features cinematic shots of the lake captured in 1080p HD, interviews with local personalities, and never before seen historical photos gathered from people who live at the Lake. The film is available for purchase at The White Lake Town Hall in DVD format.
